Attendance continues to be a high priority at St Joan's. Last year our overall school attendance was 96.2%. We know that there is a clear correlation between high academic performance and high attendance.
We do not expect parents to request to take their children out of school for reasons other than essential and unavoidable events because we know that this will disrupt their learning and have an impact on attainment.
Our own data from the past 3 years shows that pupils who achieved 5+ A*,A or B grades at GCSE had an average attendance of 98.3%
Those who achieved 5+ A* to C grades had an average attendance of 96.7%
Whilst the pupils who gained less than 5 A* to C grades had an average attendance of 93.6% That is the equivalent of 12 days of absence from school in an academic year. Taking a child out of school for a two week holiday during term time could therefore potentially have a serious impact on their future academic achievement.
If your child is absent please call the Attendance Line to notify the school as soon as possible.
