Student Leadership Team
Welcome from Head Boy & Girl
Edward, Head Boy of St Joan of Arc
When I was in Year 11, I faced the important decision of where to continue my education. I explored several options, but in the end, nothing compared to St. Joan of Arc. Our Catholic ethos, “Love Christ, Inspire Others,” is at the core of everything we do. It’s not just a motto—it’s a way of life here.
What really sets St. Joan of Arc apart is the personal connection you build with your teachers. I study economics, history, and geography, and having continuity with many of the same teachers from earlier years was a key factor in my decision to stay. They know me, they know my learning style, and they’re genuinely invested in my success. St. Joan of Arc offers enriching opportunities that shaped me as an individual. We’ve had the chance to travel to incredible places like Udayan. These experiences are life-changing and helped me understand the world beyond my textbooks.
On top of that, St. Joan of Arc gives students opportunities to take on leadership roles that make a real impact. Last year, Charlotte and I helped revamp the student leadership team. This experience taught us teamwork, decision-making, and how to make meaningful contributions to the school community. It’s one of the many ways this school empowers us—not only helping us find our voice but also teaching us how to use it effectively.
Charlotte, Head Girl of St Joan of Arc
When deciding where to go after GCSE’s I visited various different schools and sixth forms, weighing my options. But ultimately, I knew St Joan of Arc was where I wanted to continue my journey. - and I can confidently say it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. When I first joined St Joan Of Arc in Year 7, I would have never imagined that I would be standing here today as Head Girl. As someone who struggles with dyslexia, speaking in front of a large audience like this once seemed impossible. But over the years, the unwavering support from my teachers and the school community has helped me grow in confidence, which has continued throughout my six form experience. The comfort provided at our six form is unmatched and that’s what makes st joan of arc so special.
I’ve chosen to study Philosophy and Ethics, Sociology, and Psychology, and I absolutely love how these subjects challenge my thinking and broaden my understanding of the world, and I got to do this at St Joan of Arc, a community where I feel appreciated and comfortable. In the sixth form we have the exciting opportunity to complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which helps us develop our research skills for university. The UCAS application process is efficient, with invaluable support from our teachers, especially Mrs. Stack, who ensures we start early and refine our drafts. Our apprenticeship program, led by Mr. Ritchie, allows us to apply classroom learning in real-world settings, while insightful talks from guest speakers broaden our horizons and inspire us to make informed decisions about our futures.
