History & Politics Trip to Washington
Just before the Easter break 37 History and Politics students from Year 11 and Year 13 went on a transatlantic trip to the USA. It was an action packed few days where Mrs Marshall, Mr O’Reilly, Miss Hickey and Miss White managed to make everyone walk around the historical and political key sites of Washington DC and Philadelphia racking up some 25,000 steps on the first day to a more moderate 13,500 each day thereafter! We visited the Capitol building; the White House visitor centre; Ford’s theatre, where Lincoln was shot; the Pentagon Memorial; Independence Hall; the Lincoln Memorial; the National Archives to name just a few. The students were able to hold a moment of reflection and peace to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11 at the Pentagon memorial. The students had a brilliant time and they were all very relieved to rest their legs for the 2- week Easter break!
