Accent Catering: Update To Allergens Information
At Accent Catering we wanted to make families aware of our nut procedure in relation to the food we provide in the canteen at Joan of Arc School: At Accent Catering we have robust allergens systems to ensure the safety of our customers and your students and staff, which we continually review. In relation to our nut procedure, we operate as follows: -ÂÂ We are a nut-free company, meaning that we do not purchase any nuts or any products that contain nuts. We do not follow any recipes that have nuts as an ingredient. -ÂÂ However, we do offer a limited number of products that come with a “May Contain Nuts” precautionary allergen statement. Allergen cross-contamination can happen unintentionally when there is a risk that an allergen can enter the product accidentally during the production process. This can sometimes happen when several food products are made on the same premises. However, a precautionary allergen label is only used when, following a risk assessment, a risk of allergen cross-contact within the supply chain is identified that cannot be removed through risk management actions. https://www.food.gov.uk/business-guidance/precautionary-allergen-labelling -ÂÂ Examples of these products are cookies that are baked on site and pastries. -ÂÂ As per the Natasha’s Law legislation, any product that “May Contain Nuts” will clearly be labelled as such on the menu at the point of sale. -ÂÂ We are working with our supply chain to source alternative products that DO NOT have a “May Contains” declaration for nuts. We will update the school of any changes to products in due course. -ÂÂ Our entire team undergoes regular allergens training to ensure that they are confident on how to operate within allergens procedures and legislation If your child has a nut allergy, please discuss this information with them so they are confident in making their food choices in our canteen. If they are ever in any doubt, they can speak to a member of the catering team in chef whites. Should you have any questions about the information contained in this letter, please contact the school via email in the first instance. Yours faithfully, Accent Catering. Written by Admin
